Associate Professor
Dr. Sumaiya Kabir currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Associate Director (System and Support) at the Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh. She completed her PhD from Functional Materials and Microsystems Research Group at RMIT University, Australia, in 2022. Prior to that, she obtained her Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh, in 2017 and 2014, respectively.
Dr. Sumaiya’s research interest includes micro/nano-fabrication, microelectronics sensors and devices, phase change materials, solar cells and oxide thin films for electronic and optoelectronic applications. She has developed prototypes such as light sensors, ultra-fast switching devices, and smart window coatings that can be promising for improving integration density, speed, and energy-efficiency of next-generation electronics.
She has published her work in several top-tier journals and won several prestigious awards and prizes, including Research Excellence Award 2022, RMIT University, Australia, FMM Prize 2022, RMIT University, Australia and the Young Scientist Research Prize 2021 (2nd place in Physical Science category) by the Royal Society of Victoria, Australia. Outside research, Dr. Sumaiya is involved in several professional organizations including the IEEE Electron Device Society, IEEE Young Professionals, IEEE Women in Engineering, IEEE Nanotechnology Council, Australian Materials Research Society (A-MRS), Royal Society of Victoria, and Australian Nanotechnology Network (ANN).
